Experience the ultimate trail running retreat in Western Maine's mountains. Dates: Friday, Sept. 12 (12pm) - Sunday Sept. 14 (3pm) Where: Denmark, ME Best For: Trail runners of all levels Max Group Size: 12 Join Effie, ultrarunner & Triple Crowner and Acadia, of Canyon Wren Coaching for a 2-night/3-day retreat focused on building confidence on mountain trails. Located on 33 acres, Nurture Through Nature in Denmark, ME provides the quiet accommodations we're looking for: private hiking trails, wood-fired sauna, outdoor showers, and beautiful off-grid lodging in wood-heated yurts and cabins abutting Pleasant Mountain. Lodging is shared between 2-4 participants (please make a note when you register if there is someone you want to bunk with). A portion of your tuition will go to Loon Echo Land Trust, responsible for protecting and maintaining the area we will visit during the retreat. CONNECT ~ The sometimes overlooked, but often most impactful part of a retreat experience is the new connections formed. Feel supported and seen alongside other women and trusted leaders. We will carve out time for fireside chats, optional journaling, and shared meals. This experience can also serve as an opportunity connect with your self. GROW ~ Expand your skillset and prepare for mountain running with optional workshops before and during the retreat that cover a range of topics; running nutrition, gear & packing, injury prevention, and maps & route making. EXPLORE ~ Enjoy daily guided trail runs on local mountains. Saturday will feature a long run (8-12 miles/4-6 hours), while Friday and Sunday we will venture out for shorter distances (3-7 miles/1-3 hours). Mountain runs cover elevation gains between 1,000-3,500ft. There will be options built in based on your preferred pace and distance. RESTORE ~ Down-time will be built into the weekend so you can recharge between adventures. Our group will have access to the wood-fired sauna and daily yoga classes. FUEL ~ Enjoy nourishing meals cooked by NTN staff, coffee & tea and specialty running snacks to fuel your body during the retreat. All activities are optional; we hope you'll personalize the experience to fit your own needs. We ask that all participants have experience hiking in the mountains AND/OR running on non-pavement surfaces including dirt roads, urban trails or doubletrack trails prior to the retreat. While we can accommodate a variety of levels, this ensures your safety and enjoyment.
